Welcome!! We are so happy to see you here! Whether this is your first year as a Palomares Elementary parent or you've been a member of our community for a while, we want to thank you for showing an interest in getting involved.

It's going to be a great year! Now that parents and volunteers are finally allowed back on campus, the PPTC is very excited to bring back many of the fun activities, events, and enrichment programs that our students enjoyed prior to the shutdown, and we need your help!
Here are some ways you can show your support and make an impact in your child's experience at Palomares this year:

BECOME A PPTC Member

Please become a PPTC member each year! Join the PPTC so you can stay informed through PPTC emails and voice your opinions at our monthly meetings. Learn about upcoming events, volunteer opportunities, and share your thoughts and suggestions. We encourage all parents and caregivers to join so they all have a vote!
Joining is a very simple and quick 2 step process.

1. Fill out the membership form by clicking here.

2. Pay the annual membership fee. Make a tax-deductible contribution of $25 per family to activate your membership by clicking on the "Activate Membership" button at the top of the page.

VOLUNTEER YOUR TIME

There will be many opportunities throughout the year when your help is needed! Whether it's to help plan or run a social event such as Movie Night, or to lend a helping hand at the Hawk-a-thon (our biggest fundraising event), or join in on a beautification effort on campus, your participation will make a big difference! Whatever your schedule is like, even if you only have 30 minutes to spare, you’ll find opportunities to help: days or evenings, from school or from home, we have something for you to do!

We currently have many openings for our Committee Leads as many of our parents are leaving school this year with their 5th grade students. If we don't get these positions filled, these events may be cancelled next year. If you would like more information on these, please email us at pptc.president@gmail.com.

Hawk-A-Thon
This is our main fundraiser for the school. It takes
a lot of people to make sure it's successful.
We need a Committee Chair to organize and delegate the following areas:

Corporate Sponsors - visiting local businesses to solicit sponsorships
Preparing Food - purchasing and/or preparing food
Selling Tickets
Creating gift baskets for the raffle
Registration for the event
Lap monitors

Harvest Festival
This is a fun festival we hold on Halloween. The kids parade around the school to show off their costumes and then they participate in carnival type games. We need a Committee Chair to organize and delegate the following areas:

Each grade will host a game in which the kids will participate.

We ask for two parents per grade to run the game for 45 minutes.

We need a Committee Chairperson to organize the games.

Light the Night Parade
Each year our school participates in the Castro Valley Light the Night Parade, which is usually held on the Saturday before Veteran's Day. We need parents to signup to help decorate the float and assist with our kids during the parade.

We need a Committee Chairperson to organize this event.

Movie Night
The PPTC hosts a Movie Night 2-3 times per year. We need parents to assist with technical items and food service.

We need a Committee Chairperson to organize these events.

Library and Book Fairs
Our students visit the school library every Friday. During their time each Friday, they enjoy a reading from a book and they get to select two books to take home for one week. We need parents from each grade to read to the students and help them choose their next book.

We also host two book fairs during the year to raise funds for the library so we can purchase new and exciting books for the students to check out.

We need a Committee Chairperson to help with the library every Friday and organize and run the book fairs. This position can be held by one person or two people.

The Library Chair will be expected to work 5 hours per week (every Friday). The Book Fair Chair will be expected to work 40 hours per year (20 hours per book fair).

Yearbook
Our yearbook is printed by Treering. It is very hands on by our PPTC. As the year progresses, parents may submit photos from various events. Near the end of the year, our Committee Chairperson will work with other volunteers to put the yearbook pages togethers. The more volunteers there are, the less hours it takes per parent.

We need a Committee Chariperson to organize and delegate positions for this project. This takes about four hours per month. You will need to work more hours toward the end of the year.

CV Outreach and Giving Tree
During the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays, Palomares reaches out to Palomares families to help those families who need assistance. We'll send out emails requesting donations to help local families who don't have the means to provide for their children during the holidays.

Money raised goes toward classroom enrichment, class field trips, assemblies, social events, and much more! We work with Palomares teachers and staff to make sure our kids have the resources and materials they need! If you are able, please make a tax-deductible donation to help support the efforts of the PPTC. Thank you!
