Events
The PPTC sponsors events and programs for enrichment, community building and service, and good old-fashioned fun. It's not a village, it like-minded parents and the support of the community! Take advantage of this great way to build community for yourself and your child and to be a part of their elementary school memories.
Fall Campus Beautification
A little bit of manual labor goes a long way. This is a fun chance to get your hands dirty while helping keep the Palomares campus beautiful.
Volunteers are needed for: picking up litter, clearing weeds, adding compost and soil to plants, painting, etc.
Hawk-a-thon
This energetic walk-a-thon is the one BIG fundraiser to provide classroom supplies, technology and library needs, and enrichment programs. Students walk or run around the upper field, earning funds for their school, lap prizes for themselves, and vying for bragging rights. Support your child’s effort and join us for this awesome event! More details to follow.

Approximately 40 volunteers are needed for: set-up, clean-up, check-in/out the students, lap recording, food set-up and sales, prize distribution, etc.
Harvest Festival
Watch the students strut their stuff in a Halloween costume parade. Afterwards, there will be game booths and craft tables to celebrate harvest time. Grades K-2 will host.

Volunteers from Kindergarten, 1st, and 2nd grade are needed for: set-up, clean-up, running booths, organizing games and supplies, etc.
Castro Valley Outreach Food Drive

Be a part of our annual food drive and donate non-perishable food items to communities in need. Please participate in this important community service.

Volunteers are needed the last day to sort food donations at school. A one hour time commitment.
Family Movie Night
Enjoy an outdoor movie night in our own upper field. Bring some warm blankets and cozy seating, eat popcorn under the stars, and relax while you and your child are entertained.
Castro Valley Light Parade
Show your Hawk spirit in the greater Castro Valley community. This year, Palomares will parade with its prize-winning float and help light up downtown.
Giving Tree
Participate if you can and purchase a wish list item for a Castro Valley family in need. Bring some gently used boxes and wrapping supplies to help with gift wrapping. This is another great opportunity for community service.

2023 Annual Fine Arts Festival
The Annual Fine Art Festival is an entire day dedicated to exploring art and music. Typically, the day will include an art lesson by a professional artist, a musical performance or demonstration, and culminates in an assembly showcasing the theme of the event which varies year by year. Younger siblings and families are welcome to attend the assembly.

3-4 volunteers per class are needed to: assist with the in-class art projects, guide a small number of students in the group setting, and help with classroom clean-up.
Spring Fling
Join us in the amphitheater for a morning of song and music performed by our students. Afterwards, browse the Art in Action Gallery and see your child’s masterpieces from the year.

Book Fair
Explore our annual book fair in the school library and see what Scholastic Books has to offer. Partial proceeds benefit the purchasing of new books for our school.

Earth Day / Spring Campus Beautification
Celebrate Earth Day by helping prepare our campus for our annual Watershed Expo. This day is partnered with CVSans. A light continental breakfast is provided.

Teacher Appreciation Week
Offer gratitude to our wonderful teachers and staff in a week-long celebration of their hard work and dedication to our students.
Hospitality
Stay connected with our parent community by hosting various social events such as the Kindergarten Parents Tissues and Tea on the first day of school, Welcome Back Picnic, and a recurring Coffee with the Principal event, all with the intent of building and maintaining relationships.
Family Campout / Talent Show
This is an overnight event that includes a talent show, hot cocoa and s’mores, a pancake breakfast, and a great deal of fun! There is no school staff supervision for this event, and therefore, parents must be present. Grades 3-5 will host.

Volunteers from 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade are needed to: help with evening cocoa and s’mores, manage the fire, hand out glow necklaces, assist in cooking and serving of pancake breakfast, and clean-up.
Zany Day Carnival
Kick off the summer break with a final celebration. This carnival is open to all students and siblings and will begin immediately following the dismissal bell. This event is hosted in partnership with our awesome teachers.
